Research overview

My research interests are in two areas: mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, mental health and deafness. Current studies focus on compassion, psychological safety and emotional regulation in 'emotionally charged' workplaces e.g. health services, ambulance services, military, fire services, rail passenger safety etc.

I have strong collaborative research links with the D/deaf UK community. Published research reported on interpreters working with deaf patients accessing mental health services. Funded investigations include developing appropriate measures to assess emotional regulation with deaf populations.

PhD supervision includes studies investigating compassion, second victims, emotional regulation, psychological safety, and emotional intelligence.

PhD supervision
